I think about even sliding scale as a model, which is so beautiful, but often people may really be able to benefit from these practices and don't have any money to spare after rent and food and basic needs. And I struggle with how we can serve that group of people that really cannot afford therapy or yoga at all. 00:19:36 Stacey L ( She, Her): How would you have liked that convo to go? More like noticing you were hurt and then waiting? Offer assistance of your choice if needed? Sometimes I get stuck as a helper and don’t want to over step but do want to be of service when I see someone in pain . Make sense? 00:20:25 Carly Joelle: Reacted to "re sliding scale: Tr..." with 👍 00:21:00 astrid (she/her): it might not even be accessible as they would need maybe childcare to even have the time for therapy 00:21:39 Andrea @alovincoven: @Camillie one way to do that could be a free (or donation based) monthly offering or a few sessions set up that way in addition to sliding scale 00:21:55 Camille Prairie(she/her): Reacted to "@Camillie one way to..." with ❤️ 00:22:21 Camille Prairie(she/her): Yes, and I love seeing models like that in my communities!! 00:22:39 Andrea @alovincoven: YES! I echo Susanna's suggestion to connect with orgs and agencies that are already set up to serve the communities/populations you can to work with. They may also be able connect you to funding sources and/or possibly be a nonprofit fiscal sponsor for you (eg: apply for funding on your behalf). As a therapist, you might be able to tap into the medicaid system in your state through such an agency. 00:27:11 Juliana Meirelles (she/her): Reacted to "@Camillie one way to..." with ❤️ 00:27:14 Juliana Meirelles (she/her): Reacted to "Yes, and I love seei..." with ❤️ 00:27:23 Dawn: I love the invitation for folks to donate and support others from a place of generosity. 00:27:57 Juliana Meirelles (she/her): Reacted to "I spent the pandemic..." with ❤️ 00:27:58 Bonnie Walker (she/they): I love this! Thanks! 00:33:30 Dawna (she/her): Thank you! I have always loved how you broke down your payment options. 00:34:51 Camille Prairie(she/her): That's so interesting. I wonder if it has to do with attachment to money 00:34:58 Dawn: Life is about giving and receiving. It is appropriate for a student to give something, even if it is time or paying it forward… 00:35:08 Camille Prairie(she/her): Reacted to "Life is about giving..." with ❤️ 00:37:16 Bonnie Walker (she/they): Reacted to "Life is about giving..." with 👍 00:41:05 Bonnie Walker (she/they): Yoga is Dead podcast has an episode that touches on this issue as well where they deconstruct the "Primitive Gymnastics" publication (from Sweden, I think). 00:42:06 Dawn: The Parliament opened on Sept. 11, 1893 with Swami Vivekananda 00:43:06 Dawn: Looking at that history makes me think about oral traditions and the role of teachers in passing down teachings! 00:44:42 Carly Joelle: I look forward to finishing the video later.. thanks everyone for this thoughtful conversation! 00:45:42 rachel@yogasong.net: African American Theologian Howard Thurman and Gandhi talked about ahimsa as rooting out the causes of harm. Such clarity 🙏🏽 I often wonder if or how I may be harming vegetables. Do we know they are not sentient? 00:50:20 Bonnie Walker (she/they): It's funny because I was taught *to use* the Sanskrit word "Savasana" for kids classes because "corpse pose" sounds scary. 00:53:26 Audrey: Replying to "Thank you, Susann fo..." plants do not have a nervous system as such, even if we know that many plants ( trees, fungi, etc) do live in communities,,communicate, support each other etc. However we know for sure that animals are sentient, have feelings, do not wish to die.. so as Susanna said "Nothing is perfect". So, choose your own way of practising ahimsa in a way that makes sense to you, with the knowledge we have. 00:53:58 Audrey: Replying to "Thank you, Susann fo..."
